Abstract:
This session outlines the prospects for international terrorism over the
next five years, with particular reference to the situations in Iraq,
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan/Kashmir, Palestine, and Chechnya because
of their potential to generate violent reactions among members of Muslim
communities internationally. Other sources of terrorism are also
considered. Biography:
Professor Clive Williams MG is a specialist on terrorism and politically
motivated violence, with a career background in Australian Military
Intelligence and the Australian Defence Department’s strategic policy
and intelligence areas. He has worked on terrorism and counterterrorism
since 1980. Since leaving government service in 2002, he has worked and
lectured internationally on terrorism-related issues. He runs Masters
programs at three Australian universities and has been a Visiting
Professor at the University of California and at the George Washington
University. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at The Australian National
University and an Adjunct Professor at Sydney’s Macquarie University.
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP),
the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI)
and the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers (AIPIO). |
